So a lot of people are getting to know you. Tell us about yourself, where your from, how you came up with the name, all of that.

Wuddup man. It’s yo Boy LP. I’m from Michigan and rep the Shaolin Click. The name LPstands for Lyrical Producer. Whys that? Cause I rap and produce. My name use to be Lil P but I grew out of that. Started rapping at the age of 13 and started producing at 15. The sound I’m trying to bring is something different. I want to keep that mainstream sound so it’s playable in the radio but give it a different flavor.

You affiliated with one of the most popular Hmong rap groups out there, RARE. How did you hook up with them?

Well, I met them at a Hmong event and asked them if they needed any rappers and it was history after that. Signed with them on September '05 and then started recording “Its Time” the same week. Took us about 3 weeks to record the whole album.

New artists usually put out a song or two, before making an album. Have you been making tracks here and there, or did you jump straight to the album?

Yeah I made songs here and there before I made the album.

Tell us more about it-- what features you have on their, who produced it?

There were only two producers on the “It’s Time” album: Me (LP) and my man Mojo. He produced "My First Love", "Bounce That", "U Gone Know Me", and "If I Should Die (remix)". All the other tracks I produced, like “Who u Dissin”, “The Takeover”, “Its Time”, etc. The features on this album are all from Shaolin Ent. I got Rare on it, T lo, and my man Dennis So Sick.

Some of the sounds on the album have different influences, from Southern rap, to something you'd find out in NY. What influences did you have on it?

I like all kind of rap music. From Jay Z to Lil Jon, Eminem to Jin, all types. I guess my influences would be everything around me. That’s why on the album, there is a track for everyone. If you don’t like this track, you’ll like the other one. You know what I’m sayin?

On your track "Deepest Thoughts" you touch some really personal matters. What motivated you to write that song?

What motivated me to write this song was just everyday life being who I am and everything that is going on around us. I’m a deep thinker. I think about a lot of shit. Forreals. There are so many things going on that people don’t care about. So with this song, I wanted to bring it to peoples attention and maybe then they’ll look into it.

You had a sick line that went "and to me Asians are always left out, even if you're good at what you do they have doubts". Why do you think that's the case?

Well, the public don’t see us Asian people the way we see ourselves. When they see us, they think kung Fu, Chinese food (when all Asians ain’t Chinese), poor English, smart in school and etc. Till this day, they still think that about us [like that]. They are not giving us the respect that we want and that’s fucked up. Take Jin for example, in all his battles, they had to pull the race card. Whys that? Cause that’s what they see when they look at us. Jin’s that shit man forreals but his first album still didn’t sell. They doubt us because we’re Asians. And that’s in any entertainment field. So till they stop judging us by what they think we are capable of, I aint gone stop spreading the word and speaking the truth. Just like that line. You feel me?

More and more rappers are turning to videos to promote themselves. Have you thought about this?

Yeah, thought about it but just ain’t had any time to look into it. I’ll probably get more involved in that in the near future.

Now that the album is finished and the word on LP is out, what can we expect from you?

I’m working on the new album rite now. Most of the beats are finished; all I have to do now is write. Been producing a grip of beats too (got about 450+ beats). You can find my beats on the AR (AZNRAPS) forums or at http://www.aznraps.com/www.soundclick.com/lp(beatz). Promotion wise, I’m just trying to get on some radio stations and do shows across the U.S. Also selling cds here on AR so yall be sure to peep that. Come check us out at http://www.aznraps.com/www.shaolinent.com. You can get updates on me there. Well that’s about it. Yall be sure to BUY THE ALBUM. Help me out aites. And remember the name Its LP!
